→Define selection goals in writing before the pheno-hunt – whoever prioritizes only afterward chooses by gut feeling.
→Disinfect cutting tools between every plant and keep at least 3 backup clones per line – a single failure must not wipe out a line.
→Feminized for reproducible production runs, regular for breeding, autoflowering for scheduled short cycles.
→Limit your pheno-hunt scorecard to 10–15 weighted criteria and rate as blind as possible, without knowing the strain name – otherwise expectation bias distorts the selection.
→In backcrossing, the generation counts, not just the parent — BX1 only brings you part of the way back to the backcross line, usually BX2 or BX3 is needed for stable results.
→Test genetic stability with multiple seeds (6–12) from the same batch side by side under identical conditions – individual F1 plants that appear uniform say nothing on their own about the stability of the line.
