→Keep a daily grow log with VPD, EC, and pH – three documented runs make you better than any number of undocumented ones.
→Check pH (5.8–6.2 coco coir, 6.0–6.8 soil) before you give new nutrients – 80% of deficiency patterns are pH lockouts, not true deficiencies.
→Weigh the pot wet and dry: at 30–40% weight loss, the ideal watering time is reached.
→Water only once the pot feels noticeably lighter – oxygen deficiency from waterlogging does more harm than brief dryness.
→Measure PPFD at 9 points in the tent and keep the variance below 20% – uniform lighting beats peak values at individual points.
→Switch from NPK 2:1:2 to 1:3:3 starting flowering week 3 – phase-appropriate feeding prevents nitrogen toxicity in late flowering.
→Choose Coco for control and growth speed, soil for error tolerance, hydro only with an established system routine.
→Keep the dark period during flowering absolutely light-tight – even a brief light interruption can trigger hermaphroditism or reversion, regardless of total DLI.
→Ramp up VPD gradually: 0.4–0.8 kPa for the seedling, 0.8–1.2 in the vegetative stage, 1.2–1.6 in flowering – a fixed target across the whole cycle under- or overshoots one of the phases.
→Dry at 18–21 °C and 55–65 % RH until the snap test (stem breaks instead of bending) – faster, hotter drying costs terpenes and increases the case hardening risk.
→Assess calyx trichomes with a 30–60× magnifier at several canopy positions – cloudy = THC peak, amber = beginning CBN breakdown; pistil color alone is not enough.
→Adapt the measurement frequency to the substrate: soil weekly, coco coir with every watering, hydro daily – and always set the pH only AFTER the nutrients have fully dissolved.
